SANDERS OF LLANBISTER AND LLANANNO

The parentage of Richard Sanders (died 1752) of Llanbister is not currently known but he would appear to be the nephew of that name mentioned in the will of Nathan Sanders of Llanbister, written in 1727. The will also refers to Richard’s three daughters but does not name them. Also mentioned, among others, are Nathan’s sister Susan Jones and his sister Brilliana, wife of Solomon Bywater.[1] Brilliana was probably named, directly or indirectly, after Brilliana Conway (d 1643), wife of Sir Robert Harley of Brampton Bryan. The name was also used by other families in the area, with Roger Bradshaw of Llangynllo (will dated 1686) being the father of Brilliana, wife of Samuel Tonman.

Some members of the Saunders or Sanders family of Llanbister and Llananno are mentioned in a series of records relating to property in Llanbister.[2]
