KILLINGBECK OF
YEADON
The death certificate and
burial entry for Mary (Killingbeck) Green give her age in 1839 as ninety-five, but
that seems to be an exaggeration as she had a son born in 1792. Mary was said
to be of Yeadon at the time of her marriage and the only obvious candidate for
her baptism is on 19 November 1749, daughter of Benjamin Killingbeck of Yeadon,
labourer. John and Mary (Killingbeck) Green had a son
called Benjamin.
Further details of the Killingbecks are not immediately clear as there appear to
have been two Benjamins having children in the area at the time. Benjamin
Killingbeck and Mary Brook were married at Guiseley on 18 September 1748, and
Benjamin Killingbeck and Jane Brook were married there on 31 January 1749/50.
One of these Benjamins was probably the Benjamin Killingbeck of Yeadon whose
wife Ann had been buried at Guiseley on 25 May 1748.
A Benjamin Killingbeck was
buried at Rawdon on 12 June 1759, and Benjamin Killingbeck of Yeadon was buried
at Guiseley on 26 November 1767.
