CRAVEN OF ROTHWELL

John Craven was said at his marriage in 1671 to be of the parish of Guiseley and his will mentions property in Horsforth which was in the parish of Guiseley. He may therefore be the John, son of John Craven, who was baptised at Horsforth on 27 March 1642. However, a Beatrice Craven of the parish of Guiseley married Samuel Flockton at Rothwell in 1660 and their son Joseph was a witness to the will of John Craven so it seems likely there was a close connection. A Beatrice, daughter of Jonas Craven, was baptised at Adel in 1638, and a John, son of Jonas Craven of Cookridge, was baptised at Adel in 1652.
