[1] He was perhaps the John Bevan buried at Colva on 25 Apr 1760 but there was also a John Beavan buried at Llandegley on 2 Apr 1783.

[9] Some of the baptism dates are unclear in the register. The will of Thomas Williams of the Carney in Llandegley, dated 21 Sep 1782, mentions the children of his niece Elizabeth by John Beavan, including sons John, Evan and Thomas, and daughters “Ann, Mary, Elinor, Susannah, Alice and Sarah” (National Library of Wales, BR1783-36).

[29] Letter from Dianne Foster, 5 Apr 1999, citing Colva bishop’s transcripts. It appears from the Colva parish registers (online at www.findmypast.co.uk) that Sarah was baptized on 27 Jun 1782, but the register entries are somewhat haphazard and the 1779 date seems to fit better with the apparent baptism date of her sister Margaret.
