Notes

Lodge/Archdall quotes the monumental inscription of Sir John FitzGerald which gives his date of death as 1 Mar 1664, but states that this is wrong and that he died in 1662. McKenzie writes that he died in 1664.

After the death of John Vincent, Sarah (Prynne) Vincent married Stephen Revell (National Archives, PROB 11/303/379, PROB 11/303/399). Stephen was evidently a member of a family from Hunsdon in Ermington, Devon. Edmund Calamy, A Continuation of the Account of the Ministers, 2 vols (London, 1727), 1:216-17, refers to a Stephen Revell who married a “Daughter” of John Vincent, either confusing John’s widow with a daughter or suggesting that there were two marriages between the families. Sarah (Prynne) (Vincent) Revell may have been buried at Ermington on 24 Feb 1688/89 although there is a possibility that the burial relates to Sarah, daughter of Stephen Revell, whose birth or baptism was recorded at St Andrew, Plymouth, in 1662.
