Notes

The date of 27 Jun 1857 given for the death of Daniel Macmillan (no. 4) by Hughes and in other published sources is apparently an error. The notice of his death in The Times in June 1857, an affidavit with the registered copy of his will, and the death duty registers (IR26/2105, f854) all give the date as 26 Jun.
