Notes

The 1st Duke of Grafton is usually stated to have been a son of King Charles II (see, for example, The Complete Peerage, 6:706-08), but it has also been suggested that Grafton's father might have been Henry Jermyn, Baron Dover. See Anthony Adolph, "'...And in my Lady's Chamber'", Genealogists' Magazine, 27(2001-03):300-05.

Number 11 died at Chelsea according to The London Gazette of 29-31 Jul 1712, but at Richmond according to The Post Boy of 26-29 Jul 1712.

Luttrell seems to suggest that Sir Josiah Child died on 23 Jun 1699 ("at his house in Essex", presumably at Wanstead), but the Wanstead parish registers and Josiah's monumental inscription apparently both give the date of death as 22 Jun.

Various editions of Burke's Landed Gentry state that Francis Cosby (number 24) was born on 5 Jul 1612.
