TAPRELL OF ST NEOT

The will of John Taprell of St Neot, written in 1659 and proved in 1660, states “I give unto Mary Taprell my wife all my right in Lower Polscopp during her life and after her death I give it unto John Harris my Cusson of the parish of Cardinham” and gives “unto John Harris my Cusson all my right title and interest in Higher Polscopp within the parish of St Nyott”.

[1] There was more than one John Taprell in the area at the time but his son’s association with Polscop suggests that this was the “John Taprell of Polscoppeburied at St Neot on 22 Jun 1616.

[2] There may have also been a daughter who married a Bawden as the 1659 will of John Taprell leaves a legacy “unto my Cussan Mathew Bawden my servant”.
