[5] Jacobstow parish registers. This seems to be the burial of Arminell but the entry gives the forename as “Elenar”, perhaps through confusion involving the hypocoristic Nell.

[6] The will of John Pearce shows that he had daughters Mary and Arminell. The will of Mary Pearce includes a legacy to “Arminell Wicked” and John Wickett was one of the men who took the inventory of the estate of Digory Pearce in 1670. John Wicket marrying Arminell Pearce would account for him leaving property to “my Cosen Robert Pearce of Plymswood” (Kresen Kernow, AP/W/1151).

[19] St Thomas, Exeter, parish registers (online at www.findmypast.co.uk). The date is given under 1663 as “The 15 of March” but is between entries for June and July. The will of Robert Pearce names “Robert Trescott my Sonne in law” (stepson). The 1656 will of Zachary Trescott of London mentions his wife Joan, son Robert, and property in Exeter and elsewhere in Devon (National Archives, PROB 11/301/181) and the will of Zachary’s father Robert Trescott of Exeter, written in 1662/63, leaves to “my Grandchild Robert Trescott the Gold Ring which was his Fathers” (National Archives, PROB 11/331/100). The marriage of “Zachary Triscott and Joane Belmaine” in 1648 is recorded in the parish registers of Littleham near Bideford (online at www.findmypast.co.uk). Administration of the estate of Richard Belmayne of Plymouth was granted in 1654 to his daughter “Joan Trescott alias Belmayne” (Devon Wills Index, 1163-1999, online at www.findmypast.co.uk).

[21] John seems to have been either the John Pearce recorded in the Jacobstow parish registers as buried on 12 Dec 1695 or the one buried there on 25 Apr 1699.
