CLAMPITT OF BOVEY TRACEY

It is very likely that Lawrence Clampitt who married Jane (Berry) Yeo in 1720 was a son of another Lawrence Clampitt who was buried at Hennock on 8 February 1695/96 and who married Elizabeth Merdon in 1688. However, the relationship has not been explicitly documented. The younger Lawrence may have been baptised in a period when there is a gap in the Hennock parish registers in the 1690s.

CLAMPITT

1 LAWRENCE CLAMPITT of Bovey Tracey, Devon, was buried on 10 April 1764 at Bovey Tracey.[1] He married on 30 June 1720 at Hennock, JANE (BERRY) YEO,[2] widow of John Yeo and daughter of Joseph and Jane (Soper) Berry. She was baptised on 11 May 1686 at Lustleigh.[3]

ii WILLIAM CLAMPITT, bap 27 Aug 1728, Lustleigh.[4]

2 JOHN CLAMPITT of Bovey Tracey, yeoman, was baptised on 19 June 1723 at Lustleigh[5] and buried on 29 April 1779 at Lustleigh.[6] He married on 12 December 1758 at Lustleigh, MARY TOZER,[7] daughter of Jacob and Elizabeth (Langdon) Tozer (see here). She was baptised on 1 May 1724 at Lustleigh.
