Richard may be the Richard Halthen who died about 1490 and made William Halthen his executor, the latter being the defendant in a chancery case of 1501-02 against Thomas Water, chaplain, of South Newington (National Archives, C 1/252/10-11). There was also a Richard Hawtehen of Epwell, yeoman, who was living in 1498 (National Archives, CP 40/943).
