THOMAS DAVIES (1762-1819)

 

Will

 

In the Name of God Amen. I Thomas Davies of Box, in the parish of Glascomb in the County of Radnor yeoman, being sick and weak in Body but of Sound Mind Memory and understanding praised by God for the same Do make this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following, First, I Will and Direct, that all my Stock, Goods, Chattels and Effects of what nature soever and where soever shall be sold and converted into Money and after payment of my just Debts & Funeral Expences I further Direct that the Sum of four Hundred pounds be placed out and vested upon Landed Security by my Executors herein after named and the Interest thereof I give and bequeath to my beloved Wife Alice for the support of herself and the bringing up of my three youngest Children. I also give and allow my said Wife such Furniture & Necessaries as she may think proper to the Amount of Twenty pounds which is to be deducted out of the shares of my three Youngest Children as they come of Age. I also give and bequeath to my two Sons Thomas & James Twenty five pounds each for their Services over and above their respective Shares and the rest and Residue of my personal Estate I Will and desire may be equally divided amongst my Children by my former Wife Share & Share alike including and taking into Account what has been already given to those that are Married and my Will and Meaning is when my Daughter Susan Attains the Age of twenty one Years that one Hundred pounds part of the four Hundred pounds before mentioned after making her Share equal with my Other Children that are of Age by including the third part of the Twenty pound before mentioned the remaining part of that Hundred pounds to be equally divided amongst them Share & Share alike. I give and Bequeath to my two Youngest Children John and Jane Fifty pounds each when they attain the Age of Twenty one Years And the Interest of the remaining Two Hundred pounds I Will and direct that my Wife Alice shall receive for her own and separate use during her natural Life and after her Discease I Will and direct that after making the Shares of my three Younger Children equal with the Others the Residue of the two Hundred pounds be equally divided amongst all my Children Share & Share alike. And I hereby constitute and Appoint My Wife Alice, my Son Thomas and my Son James joint Executors of this my last Will and Testament. In Witness whereof I the said Thomas Davies have hereunto set my Hand and Seal this 14th Day of March in the Year of our Lord 1818.
